Overview
DeafBlind Training, Interpreting & Professional Development (DB-TIP) is a small, women-owned business based in New York City. Our team includes female-identifying, queer, and DeafBlind professionals who bring a unique depth of perspective and lived experience to every project. With more than 75 years of combined experience providing and coordinating interpreting services for Deaf and DeafBlind communities—and leading national nonprofit and federal initiatives—DB-TIP offers unparalleled expertise in both practice and administration.

Key Services
DeafBlind Training, Interpreting & Professional Development (DB-TIP) offers a full range of communication access and professional development services designed to meet the diverse needs of Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals, as well as the organizations that serve them.
Coordination of Interpreting Services
DB-TIP provides seamless coordination of qualified sign language interpreters for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing clients across a variety of settings. Our team ensures the right match of skills, communication style, and experience for every assignment.
Specialized DeafBlind Services
We offer customized interpreting services tailored to the unique communication preferences and access needs of DeafBlind individuals. Our highly skilled interpreters are trained in:
- Visual ASL
- Close Vision Interpreting
- Tactile ASL (TASL)
- Protactile Language (PTL)
and other approaches that ensure effective, equitable communication access.
Coordination of Co-Navigation (CN) Services
Formerly referred to as Support Service Providers (SSPs), Co-Navigators offer essential environmental and communication access for DeafBlind individuals. DB-TIP coordinates qualified CN professionals who are experienced in guiding, describing, and facilitating full participation in daily and professional activities.
Professional Development & Training
- DB-TIP provides professional development workshops and consultations on topics such as:
- Working effectively with Deaf and DeafBlind communities
- Cross-cultural communication and etiquette
- Building accessible and inclusive workplaces
- Understanding specific etiologies and syndromes related to hearing and vision loss
- Reducing visual complexity and improving environmental access
- Interpreter education and skill development
All trainings are designed to increase awareness, engagement, and inclusion across diverse settings.
Referral Services
DB-TIP connects organizations and institutions with qualified Deaf and DeafBlind trainers and consultants who bring authentic expertise and lived experience to each engagement.
Response Time
- Monday–Friday, typically within 2–3 hours
- Weekend & holiday inquiries: May take up to 48 hours
